BCYC Fleet Captains: John Teague & Naomi Pound
The RS200 is a fantastic two person, non-trapeze, asymmetric, racing dinghy which provides fun and excitement for helm and crew of all ages, and will remain competitive over a wide all-up weight range.
BCYC is a stunning venue with great facilities, and a strong history of producing top performing RS200 sailors ever since the boat was launched. The 200 is ideally suited to the reservoir and varied club courses, proving competitive in both fleet and handicap racing. BCYC also host an event on the very popular 2ndhanddinghies.com sponsored SW Ugly Circuit, run by our very own Pete Vincent, providing the very best in competitive, local and friendly circuit racing.
We have a very enthusiastic RS200 fleet consisting of sailors of all standards, ranging from those starting sailing and recent converts to asymmetric sailing, all the way up to regular top 10 performers at RS200 Regional & National Championships. Although not the biggest fleet at BCYC, the RS200 fleet certainly make up for it with enthusiasm and can often be found in the club house enjoying lunch together or tea/beers after sailing and discussing the racing, swapping tips and advice on rig set up, tactics and boat handling techniques. Once a month, the fleet has a special club day, with a full fleet turnout and sometimes a social in the evening - which is a great opportunity to catch up with everyone and enjoy good close competition on the water.
We have previously run very popular winter coaching for those sailors who want to learn more about asymmetric sailing and racing, , with great coaching by top RS sailors. The advice and encouragement they give can be seen in significant improvements in boat handling and race tactics throughout the fleet at all levels - if this is something you're interested in, be sure to get in touch.
So whether you just wish to compete at the club or regional and national events, or simply mess about on the water, you will find the RS200 fleet a friendly and approachable bunch of sailors, keen to welcome and encourage new members and provide any support you need from amongst your fellow fleet sailors.
Do get in touch to find to find out more...
And, if you would like to sail with the fleet but need a Crew / Helm to sail with, then let us know and we can put you in touch with other interested sailors.
